Keep the customer-facing language familiar and the internal view clear
Reply in the language the customer is using, while giving sales and managers a concise internal summary in the team’s preferred language.
OMNICHANNEL CUSTOMER CONVERSATIONS
Customers want to communicate in the language they know. Teams need a clear internal view. Both are possible, but machine translation should not become a final commitment on its own.
Cross-border sales
Reply in the language the customer is using, while giving sales and managers a concise internal summary in the team’s preferred language.
Models, currencies, discounts, delivery timing and compliance statements should not depend on literal translation. Define approved terminology and boundaries in advance.
For payment methods, tax, legal risk or local delivery, hand the conversation to someone who understands the market. Include both the customer’s original wording and the full context.
A grammatically correct sentence can still feel unnatural. Prepare market-appropriate openings, explanations and confirmations, then adapt to the customer’s tone.
